Till now we used command line for assigning ip and configure static routing on router. But Today you will come to know about configuring it graphically.Yes, cisco packet tracer also provide option to configure ip and static routing on router graphically. Because sometimes when there is a large connection of networks and there are so many routers, this method will let you save your precious time by configuring it graphically. This is more simple method to configure than command line.So to configure it graphically follow these simple steps with following images:-
Firstly, Connect the routes and make a network. As i have created a sample network for you.
Now Open the router, Assume router 1
Now in router1 go to config tab and from left side options select the port on which ip is to assigned.As we have opened fastEthernet0/0, Now in the boxes type their respective ip addresses and the subnet mask of that network and click on the “on” checkbox from top right corner. Now the ip is assigned to that port of the router.
To assign ip address to a serial port on router follow the same steps but the only thing you have to add is to select the clock rate from the given box.
*Apply above process on all the routers to assign ip addresses to the ports.
Now we have to configure static routing on the the routers graphically.
To configure static routing go to the config tab and select ‘static’ from the left side options. We have to give router the knowledge about all the networks which are not connected directly to the router. So as we configure static routing on the router we have to give the network address , subnet mask of that network as well as the next hope ( it is the ip address of the port of the router which is connected to the that network and comes before that network to which we have to reach). For ex.- as in the network we have to configure routing on router1 about the network 126.96.36.199 , in that case the next hope will be the ip of serial port se0/1/0 of the router3. Similarly we tell router about all the networks connected indirectly.
*In this way we configure static routing on all the routers graphically.
And after assigning ip to all the routers and computers and configure static routing on all the routers we can check the networks by pinging the systems.
